Setting Up Your New iPhone

If your iPhone is fresh out of the box the first thing you need to do is turn it on. Once it starts up slide to unlock the phone.
You will then be prompted with different options for the setup. The first will be to select a language. This is the language that all the text and information your phone will be in. Once you have picked your language, tap the blue arrow in the top right corner.
Next you are asked to pick a country or region. Simply select your home country.
The next screen shows Location Services. Turning this on will allow you to use the built-in GPS and other applications that use this feature. There is an option on the screen that will further explain Location Services. This is located at the bottom of your iPhone screen. You can always turn this off later. Learn how here.

After tapping the continue button, you will be asked to select a Wi-Fi network from the ones in range. If there are none in range, you may be asked to plug your phone into the computer. Once you do that, continue to follow to on-screen steps.
The phone will then connect to your Cellular Network. If should have got an activation number when you purchased your phone, make sure it matches the one on your screen. Next, verify your phone number, enter your billing zip code, and the last four number of your social security number. NOTE: This step may be different depending on your Wireless Provider.
Next, you are prompted with 3 options: Set Up as New Phone, Restore from iCloud Backup, or Restore from iTunes Backup. If this is your first iPhone select "Set Up as New iPhone." If you have had one before, choose one of the backup options depending on how you backed up the information on your previous phone.

If you decide to use iCloud, you then need to choose if you want your phone to be automatically backed up through Wi-Fi every day or backed up on your computer.
The newer iPhones have a voice assistant service called Siri. You can ask Siri to call someone, send them a message, look up sports scores, movie times, open an application, or just chat. If you turn Siri on, you can access her by holding down your Home Button at any time.
The last step to setting up your phone is setting up Find My Phone. This is application on your phone that will help you find it if it is missing or stolen. If you have another Apple product, you can also locate your phone through that device too. It is definitely recommended that you use this feature.
Once you hit next, you can start using your new iPhone!
